WHEN YOU NEED HELP PLANNING YOUR OWN
OR A LOVED ONE’S FINAL CELEBRATION

Eileen Bailey, A Fitting Farewell

Losing those we dearly love is hard to bear. This time of grief is often compounded by having to quickly put together just the right celebration to suit this unique individual who has meant so much to us.

Eileen Bailey believes that advance planning can help ease the process. The founder and president of A Fitting Farewell, she helps spouses and family members plan meaningful, memorable ceremonies to mark the passing of their loved ones.

Another of her specialties is working with those who seek to take the burden off family members by planning their own obituary, memorial and reception l in advance.

It is a service she relishes and one for which she is well suited. A Phoenix journalist, author, PR professional, and former president of KidsRead USA, she has helped write and edit obituaries as well as plan and execute memorials for more than 20 years. Among those she has assisted are Cathy Bua, Carolyn Ellis, Leslie Hall, Sharisse Johnson, Jean Reed Roberts, Dr. Marty Rozelle, and the family of Bill and Susan Heywood. She co-wrote Waylon Jennings’ 2002 obituary in People Magazine.

Bailey’s services range from joining the family to meet with the mortuary, to arranging the venue, speakers, minister/rabbi/emcee, music, video or slide show, Bible verses, program, and caterer, and helping write the obituary and eulogy.

“I find this work very satisfying,” said Bailey. “I am helping someone in great stress create a special ceremony for their loved one. Sometimes the bereaved don’t know their choices. It’s not about a lavish display; it’s about expressing love and respect for this unique person. For those planning their own farewell event, it’s about helping them express their creativity.”
